Beer and Banana, they are better together

Banana Beer Bread; it is not just the alliteration that is making your mouth water right now, is it?

This recipe is super easy and makes your house smell so good. so here is what you need:

1 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
2 ripe bananas, mashed
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup beer
*optional 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Before the directions, I want to make a quick note about beer choice; I chose Bell's Oberon. I believe in using beer that is full of flavor, like a vanilla porter or even a milk stout, something hearty will be prevalent in the bread.

preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a bread pan (mine was 9 1/4 by 5 1/4)

First you want to mix your dry ingredients in a large bowl, so the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add walnuts here as well if you are using them in your recipe. As you can see in the picture above, I sprinkled the walnuts on top of one side of the bread; for the nut lover and the not- so -nutty fan.

In a small bowl, beat eggs until light and fluffy, then add mashed bananas, melted butter, and beer.
Pour the egg mixture over the flour mixture and beat well. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes. If you test with a knife, you will get a little residue, as long as it is not thick, it is ready to go.

 Enjoy!
